Introducing Date
The construction of the project was initiated in May 2014 by entering into a memorandum of understanding between the government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the government of the People’s Republic of China.
Financing Amount
- From China: The project’s financing source was found in December 2015, when China’s Exim Bank agreed to offer a soft credit facility of $1. 55 billion. Construction of the facility began in October 2015.
- From Habib Construction: In October 2015, Habib Construction Services was the combined order of infrastructure construction. They gave 21.49 billion (referred to as US$74 million) for the first phase.
- ZKB Engineers and Constructors: However, in the second half of the year 2016, the Punjab Government contracted ZKB Engineers & Constructors for the second phase of civil construction from Chauburji to Ali Town, having a bid of 2000.39 billion rupees.
Rolled Out Trains Date
CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive delivered the first of 27 trains for the operating metro on 16 May 2017.
Test Run
Pre-tests and pilot activities took place in March 2018. The Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) is in Lahore city and was launched in May 2018. Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was also involved in the first trial run.

Lahore Orange Line Train Availability Hours
The Lahore Orange Line Metro Train operates Monday to Sunday daily with the following schedule:
- Opening Time: 06:00 AM

The Metro Orange Line train, which connects several significant Lahore areas, will have a minimum charge of Rs 20 to Rs 25, effective immediately. This modification is intended to meet operational requirements and enhance service quality.
Additionally, the Orange Line train’s maximum fare has increased from Rs 40 to Rs 45. This modest fare modification aims to maintain sustainable operations while continuing to provide the general public with effective transportation options.
Important Note for Extra Charges
If you need to disembark at a nearby station, you will need to pay 20-25 rupees for the ticket.
If you do not get off at that station and step land at an encouraging station, you will be required to pay extra charges. This is because your ticket has a specific time limit within which the orange train must be reached to get you to your designated station. If you get off at a station beyond your intended stop, your ticket will expire.
Please make sure to get off at your designated station. If you miss your station, you can speak with the staff for assistance.
If you lose your ticket, you must pay at least 100 to 150 rupees at the counter when you exit the train.
